Welcome to Study in China 2016
In order topromote the mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and exchanges inpolitics, economy, culture, education and trade between China and Canada, theEducation Offices of Embassy/Consulate-General of the People’s Republic ofChina in Canada, in cooperation with China Scholarship Council (CSC), offers upto 100 full Chinese Government scholarships for Canadian students to study inChina each year. Academic programs of Science, Engineering, Agriculture,Medicine, Economics, Law, Management, Education, History, Chinese Language& Literature, Philosophy and Arts in 273 designated Chinese universitiesare available to scholarship winners. Please check the Directory ofthe Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under ChineseGovernment Scholarship Program at www.csc.edu.cn/laihua,www.campuschina.org, www.studyinchina.edu.cn for an introduction to programsand universities available.
I. Eligibility
Tobe eligible, applicants must
——be aCanadian citizen and be in good health.
——be a highschool graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.
——be abachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master'sprograms.
——be amaster's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.
——be under theage of 45 and have completed at least two years of undergraduate study whenapplying for general scholar programs.
——be amaster's degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50when applying for senior scholar programs.
II. Coverageof Chinese Government Scholarship
1、A fee waiver of registration, tuition, laboratoryexperiments, internship, and basic textbooks. Cost of experiments orinternships beyond the program curricular is at student's own expense. Cost ofbooks or learning materials other than required basic textbooks is at student'sown expense.
2、Free on-campus dormitory accommodation.
3、A living allowance at the following rates (per month)
undergraduates: CNY2,500.
master'sstudents & general scholars: CNY3,000.
doctoral students & senior scholars: CNY3,500.
4、One-off settlement subsidy:
CNY 1,000 for new students who will study in China for less than one academicyear. CNY 1,500 for new students who will study in China for one academic yearor above.
5、Outpatient medical service and Comprehensive MedicalInsurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China.
6、One-off inter-city travel reimbursement:
A hard-seat train ticket (hard-berth train ticket for overnight trip) will bereimbursed for scholarship students traveling ① from the port of entry to the city ofthe host university or Chinese language training (preparatory) school uponregistration; ② from the city of Chinese language training (preparatory) school tothe city of the host university upon finishing the Chinese language training(preparatory) study; ③ from the city of the host universityto the nearest port of departure upon graduation.
III.Application Procedures
Step 1、OnlineApplication
Complete the online application form at www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org accordingto the enclosed “Instructions of the CSC Online Application System forInternational Students”. Please be advised that applicants start to contactthe3 targeted Chinese universities in the application file for pre-admission.
Step 2、ApplicationForm and SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Applicants are required to submit paper-based application package that mustinclude three (3) copies of each of the following documents:
①downloaded,printed online application form (Please do stick your recent photo to eachfirst page of your application form.) ②Twoletters of recommendation (three copies for each).③ Notarizedphoto copy of transcripts of the most advanced studies. ④ Photocopy of the diploma (notarized by Notary Public) for the highest diplomaobtained. ⑤Adetailed study/research plan. ⑥ Foreigner Physical ExaminationForm. ⑦ Ifapplicable: proof of language proficiency (HSK results).⑧ Ifapplicable: samples of artwork for applicants in Fine Arts and Music. Thisapply to those who apply for arts and music only.
The above documents must be submitted to the Education Office, ConsulateGeneral of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto. The Education Officeaccepts applications from Ontario (with the exception ofOttawa city) and Manitoba only. Incomplete files will not beaccepted.

Step3、To enhance your opportunity to be admitted to yourtargeted universities, once your application package is received, examined andapproved primarily, an Award Letter for Chinese Government Scholarship providedby the Embassy/Consulate-General of the P. R. China in Canada will be sent toyou in time. And with the Award Letter, you shall continue contacting the threetargeted Chinese universities filled in your online application form foradmission. Once you get the admission(s), please choose one from your mostfavorite universities and send it to us through email (PDF form) in savingtime.
IV.Instructions for Online Application
Step1、Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.organd click "Application Online for International Students".
Step2、Read "Tips for online application"carefully before clicking "NEXT" to the registrationpage.
Step3、After registration, log in with your user name andpassword. Choose Chinese Government Scholarship as yourscholarship type unless you are applying for other Cooperation ProgramScholarship.
Step4、Fill in the correct Agency Number. An AgencyNumber represents a specific application receiving agency. It is listed in thefirst blank under the "PERSONAL DATA". Please make sure you fill itin correctly, otherwise you will not be able to continue your onlineapplication or your application will not be accepted. (Toronto Online application Agency Number: 1243)
Step5、Fill in the Online Application Form truly,correctly and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.
Applicants arerequired to select a discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer tothe Disciplines Index, which could be downloaded from Help, if you have anydoubt about the disciplines and majors.
Step6、Click Preview and check your ApplicationForm carefully before submitting it. Click Confirmation ofSubmit to submit your Application Form.
Step7、Download the completed Application Form byclicking Download Application and print three hard copies.
Step8、Prepare other supporting documents as required and sendthe full package of application documents (in duplicate) to the dispatchingauthorities. (Below is the address for Ontario(with the exception of Ottawa city) and Manitoba applicants only.)

Step9、You can make changes to your application byclicking Retrieve Application
on the left ofthe page. But make sure to submit it again by clicking Confirmation ofSubmit after finishing all the changes. Otherwise, the retrievedapplication will become invalid and your new application will not be receivedeither.
l Please use Internet Explorer (6.0 or 7.0). Menu selectionfunctions may not work in other browsers.
l Only Chinese and English are accepted for the online application.
V. Enquires& Agency Numbers for Online application
The Education Offices of Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China inToronto is the dispatching authority for Ontario(with the exception of Ottawa city) and Manitoba applicationsand is responsible for the enquires and preliminary review of Canadianstudents' application documents of the said areas.
